Help & Guide
What is this app?
Homerun Practice helps coaches build timed baseball practice plans from a library of 368 drills sourced from the Youth Baseball Canada knowledge base. It runs entirely in your browser — no account, no server, no internet required after the first load. All data is saved locally in your browser.
Getting started in 3 steps:
- Fill in the Session Configuration — team, date, theme, and how much time you have. It starts collapsed — click to expand it.
- Search or filter Browse Drills and click + on any drill to add it to your plan (or switch to the Skill Plans tab to load a pre-built plan as a template).
- Click Save to keep the plan, or Print / PDF to hand it to your team.
📲 Add to your Home Screen
Install this app so it opens full-screen, without the browser bar — just like a native app.
On iPhone/iPad (Safari):
- Tap the Share icon in Safari's toolbar.
- Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen.
- Tap Add — the app icon now appears on your Home Screen and opens full-screen, without the browser bar.
On Mac (Safari):
- Click the Share icon in Safari's toolbar (or use the File menu).
- Choose Add to Dock.
- The app now opens from your Dock in its own window, like a native app.
🆕 Version, updates & feedback
The version you are running is shown in the footer at the bottom of every screen — for example v1.0. Version numbers work like this: a small update adds 0.1, and a big update adds 1.0.
Staying up to date: when the app starts, it quietly checks whether a newer version has been published. If there is one, you'll see an Update available message with an Update now button. Updating only refreshes the app files — your saved practice plans are stored on this device and are never touched. If you're offline, the check is skipped and the app works exactly as usual.
What's new: the first time you open a new version, a short summary of the changes appears. You can bring it back any time from the What's new link in the footer.
Full history: open the version history page to see every release, its date, and what changed.
Found a problem, or have an idea? Use the button below (or Send feedback in the footer). Rate the app, pick what your feedback is about, and describe what happened — the app writes the email for you and opens it in your mail app, addressed to the Homerun Baseball Ottawa team.
Practice Planner
- Build tabs: switch between three ways to build a plan — Browse Drills (search and filter the full drill library), Skill Plans (pre-built plans organized by skill), and Roadmap (a skill-progression ladder from Introductory through Advanced for each skill category).
- Search: type in the search box to find drills by name, skill, or tags.
- Filter by skill: click a skill chip (Hitting, Throwing, Infield, etc.) to narrow the list.
- Filter by intensity: Low / Medium / High — useful for warm-up vs. main work vs. conditioning.
- Filter by age: select an age range to see only age-appropriate drills.
- Drill cards: click any drill card to see the full detail — purpose, setup, coaching cues, execution steps, common faults, and equipment needed.
- Add to plan: click the + button on a drill card to add it to your practice plan. Click again to remove it.
- Reorder drills: use the ↑↓ arrows on plan items to rearrange the order.
- Stations mode: switch the plan to Stations to run several drill groups at once, with a single time allocation per station instead of per drill.
- Time budget: the bar shows how much of your session time is used up.
- Skill Plans: pre-built plans organized by skill — click any plan card to load it instantly.
- Save / Load: save your plan to browser storage and load it later.
- Print / PDF: generates a printable practice plan with timeline, drill details, and coach's notes.
Export & Import saved plans
Because your data lives in this browser on this device, it isn't automatically shared with another device or browser.
- Export: downloads all of your saved plans as a single
.jsonfile. Use this to back them up or move them to another device. - Import: loads plans from a previously exported file. Plans are added to what you already have — a plan with the same name as one you already saved will be overwritten, but everything else stays untouched.
